If you did a quick search on the opportunities Internet home business, you probably came away feeling that opportuntities "internet" HYPE is 99%.

Traditionally, people make money on the internet a few ways:

1. Sell your services. If you have a service you want to sell – An example would be something like a "virtual assistant" that provides support services business. The Internet is an ideal place to sell such services. But it must have the skills to be able to sell on the Internet. This can be costly and time consuming. Essentially, you're still a wage-slave like you sell your time. No problem with this, but your income will be limited.

2. Sell your product. You want a product they sell. You want to sell trading cards Internet, the Smurfs or collectibles, decals or bumper. The Internet can be an excellent place to do that. Everyone knows someone selling stuff on EBay or Craig's list, and with most people having at least a portion of their purchases on the Internet, it is possible to earn a good living with a Internet company.

3. Participate in a program of multi-level marketing that focuses on the Internet. You can participate in a multi-level marketing and use of the Internet to sell the company's products and business opportunity. The Internet is an excellent place for such business, but it is known, so there are many people competing with you if you have to do it correctly to earn a living. And, as any "brick and mortar" business, it takes a lot of work to build your customer list on the Internet.

4. Selling goods to someone else. Usually this is done through what is called "affiliate marketing" and, if automated, can book with big Bucks minimal effort. We will spend much time on this. For many people, it's an interesting way to keep a company on the Internet, and has lots of charm on other methods.

Why sell someone else's products? For # 1, work must truly be able to provide a service. If you do not currently service, you must find and acquire the skills necessary to sell your services. This can take months or years, depending on the service you provide.

For # 2 to work, you need a product. And if you have a product, you must have inventory, and you have to travel to the post office to send the product, and you have customer returns and complaints process. You must have a website with a shopping cart, which means you have to take credit cards, and there is a cost to that.

For # 3 to work you must find the right company, and you have to distinguish yourself from the other treasures of people trying to sign everyone up to be in their downline.

But for # 4 to work, you need any of them. You do not need a special service, you do not have a product (or store or ship, etc..) Therefore, by selling the products of someone else, you need to focus on a number of things. You must have a great website, you must understand how to capture prospects and communicate by e-mail, you need to know how to build good list, and you find good affiliate programs to partner with. With affiliate marketing, much of the advance "work" involved in managing a company is eliminated, and those who take the time to really learn the skills of internet marketing is a reward Financial great!
